The Red Eye Red Tailed Puffer (Carinotetraodon irrubesco) is a freshwater species from Borneo and Sulawesi, known for its manageable size (1.75”) and red coloring on their bodies. It thrives in warm, acidic waters with minimal water movement, requiring soft water, plenty of cover, and tannins from botanicals like Indian Almond Leaves. It can be kept in groups with enough space, and is sexually dimorphic, with males displaying horizontal stripes and females showing a spotted pattern. Proper habitat and diet are essential for its well-being.

Shipping days are Monday and Wednesday in case any delay the fish wont be stuck in traship over the weeked. All live fish will be shipped ONLY through overnight shipping.

    best freshwater puffer

    I love these puffers. I have 1 male and 3 females together in a 20 gallon long. The habitat leans darkwater with lots of hides and driftwood. They spend the day hanging out together in front (begging for food). But the fatties have no issue in that department and eat anything. I don't have the same stress as with peapuffers and frozen/ live foods all the time. They get along with everyone including amano shrimp and most importantly each other. super fun to watch them go about their business.
