Cenepa Red Pencilfish (Nannostomus sp.)

The Cenepa Red Pencilfish (Nannostomus sp.) is a rare freshwater fish from the upper Amazon region, specifically the Río Cenepa basin in northern Peru. It belongs to the Lebiasinidae family, which includes pencilfish known for their slender, elongated bodies and horizontal striping. They display an rich, deep red body, which intensifies under ideal conditions and a prominent black lateral stripe runs from the snout to the tail.
