Amazon Puffer

A true freshwater species from the fast-flowing stretches of the Amazon River, The Amazon Puffer is an active and lively little fish that maxes out at 3-4 inches. Being an active and social species, a minimum of 3ft is ideal for horizontal swimming space. Current is not an absolute must but would provide surface agitation and an environment similar to the puffer's natural habitat. 

Being a pufferfish, tank mates other than conspecifics may be difficult to stablish, however, fast moving tetras and armored catfish such as Corydoras and Plecos may fare well with these active fish. In the aquarium, Amazon Puffers enjoy frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and live snails.
