The Concolor Cory, also known as the Slate Cory (Hoplisoma concolor), is a large, fast-growing Corydoras species native to soft-water streams of the Orinoco River basin and its tributaries in Colombia and Venezuela. A newly discovered variant, the CW217 Rio Tomo Cory (Hoplisoma concolor “Rio Tomo” CW217), is especially notable for its striking bicolor coloration.
Like most Cory catfish, Concolor Corys are peaceful, hardy, and thrive when kept in groups due to their natural schooling behavior. Thanks to their larger adult size, they make excellent bottom dwellers and dither fish for community aquariums, particularly those housing medium South or Central American cichlids or other semi-predatory fish that are not large enough to prey on them.
